The same calculator without the patient explanations: a line ready to paste into the record, a PDF to attach and a print layout for the consulting room.

In short

This is the same calculator without the patient explanations. It gives a line to paste into EMIS or SystmOne, a PDF to attach with your own reference, a print layout, and years smoked and the date stopped alongside pack years. Never enter a patient’s name or NHS number.

What you get

Why record more than pack years

The FAQs make the case for recording more than pack years: “starting and stopping dates, smoking duration in years and smoking pack years should be recorded for each patient so that smoking exposure risks can be taken into account when patients present with symptoms of disease.” The calculator asks for the date stopped and the total years smoked as well.
